No Handrail Leads to Broken Leg
The firm obtained a $500,000 settlement for a 40-year-old man who fell down a flight of stairs in his apartment building. An investigation of the accident scene revealed the stairs lacked a handrail, as required by the building code, and were slippery as a result of a leak in the roof of the building. The landlord was responsible for these defects with the stairs. The plaintiff suffered a broken leg in the accident and underwent surgery to fix the fracture.
